Junior Hockey
Waitakere Hockey are passionate about encouraging children into hockey. Our junior hockey programme is for children in Years 1-8, split into grades as follows:

- Year 7 & 8
Children of all skill levels are welcome in all age groups.

Training and games
Training is held at Waitakere Turf on Monday evenings Years 1-8. Game locations for Years 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 depend on the draw but could be at any turf in Central / East / West Auckland. We usually expect to have around half our games at home at Waitakere Turf. The Year 1/2 grade usually play all their games at turfs in Central Auckland.
Uniforms & Equipment
The club provides children with a uniform that is to be worn for every game, and is returned at the end of the season. All children need a stick, shinguards, mouthguard and green socks. Socks can be purchased from the club for $15 and members can receive a 10% discount (use code WH1920) for any gear purchases through our partner Freedom2Play.
2024 Season
Year 1-6
Children can be registered via the Register page above. Children will be placed in teams and parents will be emailed further details around the end of March. If you would like further information please email our Junior Club Captain.
Year 7/8
Children can be registered via the Register page above. We also hold trials for this age group to ensure the children are placed in a skill appropriate team. Trials will be held on Sunday 10th March at 12:45pm. Following trials the teams will be put together and parents will be emailed further information.
When registering your child you will be issued an invoice for the season fees. Payment of this invoice is required by 24th April. Fees must be paid before a uniform will be issued, on the first training back after the holidays. If you are unable to pay the fees in full please contact the Treasurer to make a payment arrangement.
Junior training for all age groups will start on Monday the 8th April - this will be more of a meet the coach / teammates session before we break for the holidays and return to training on 29th April.
